Can someone shed some light for me on the pvp thing? I know players can fight each other... but can there be massive battles with tons of players? If so, can there be certain zones that guilds can control? Like a base.
This would be an interesting addition to guild wars. A 'base' of sorts, a common meeting ground for all members of a guild.
The main area of the guild itself shouldn't be able to be taken over, but everything around it is free game, up to the guild to defend.

Is there something like this in PvP? Because in adventure mode only members of the same party can find each other outside the cities... you don't have to defend yourself against other people, it's not player vs. player.

well theres already plenty of posts onto why you cant run into people in normal PvE... and for the guild thing there is a game where you defend your guildhall

Are there guildhalls for every guild? And PvE? All I have done is played one beta, my friend, and I don't read alot so please fill me in.

Oh, and are the guildhalls present always? Random points on the map where there's a building or something that serves as your guild's homebase.

you have to purchase a guild hall, theres 6 to choose from i think, but only you see your guildhall on the map, unless your in a gvg battle, then others can see it.... so no it cant be attacked at random times

and any guild can have a guildhall if you buy one, it was 1500 gold i think last beta, dont quote me, im not a guild leader so i didnt get to see price.

But just like your guild your leader has to be the one to buy it.
(hope this is helpful)

1500 gold x.x
Does it appear on ALL guild members' maps? And can people from other guilds enter it?
The idea of this is that it would be in an isolated location where it would be secret and/or secure. A place just for your guild, or a place your guild can be reached. Or a combination of the two.

What I'm getting at is: can you choose where it is placed? So only your guild members know the way to it, or somebody gets really lost and luckily lands up in it.
And then, can you force people to leave it?

All guildhalls show up on the exact same place in everyone's world map. There's a specific storyline reason for why guilds aren't allowed to stake up real estate claims on the mainland. That is why all guildhalls are situated on the same island locations. However, whether or not you have it depends on whether or not your GL used a celestial sigil to obtain one. So yes, it appears on all the guild members' maps. No, other people from other guilds cannot enter it. When they click on the Guildhall pin on the worldmap, they go to their guild hall.

The only exception for this rule is when you challenge another guild to a guild battle. Then, it's a toss-up of whether you fight in your guildhall, or in theirs.

You can either buy the sigil or earn it by holding the Hall of Heroes in the tomb for one round. The sigil only drops for one random person in the team though, so it is best to have a full guild team if you want to try to earn it that way. Also, currently there are 6 different variations of guild halls that you can choose, and you can change your current guild hall to a different one provided that you have the sigil (i.e. everytime you move to a different hall it cost you one sigil).

Well in case it isn't obvious, I'm interested in purchasing a guild hall. When the game comes out I am starting a guild with a few friends, and I wanted information on the guild halls.
So... can you get them in adventure mode? Or just PvP? Because a private place for my guild is just what I need.

One more thing, can someone explain the 'islands' more in-depthly? Can you get to them from the mainland or is it teleport-only? Is there a shallow stretch of water between the mainland and the island that holds the guild hall?

And just so I have this right: every guild's guild hall appears in the same place it would if it belonged to another guild, only the membership determines which hall the player goes to?
And can a guild have more than one hall? (Strictly out of curiosity)

Ok, I've got some notes, lol. After these questions I just have to find someone who will give me directions to the Hall of Heroes... then I have to wait for the game to come out, then start the guild and get my friends in. The four of us can probably recruit fast enough.

I used to play a game called Runescape, many years ago. I still think of it sometimes when thinking of guild wars in that I keep forgetting that not everyone is on the same map when they're outside the cities, only parties/teams stick together.

You can get it only in RP mode.

There are three steps in making a guild:
1) Register your guild for a small amount of gold. You get you guild roster and guild chat.
2) Buy a cape for a moderate amount of gold.
3) Buy a guilld hall. For this you need a Celestial Sigil. You can buy it with gold at the Sigil Trader, or you can get it if you win in the Hall of Heroes.

There is a Ferryman in Lion's Arch that can take you to visit all types of guild halls, so you can have a good look at them before you buy one. Once you buy it, you can get there only via the map.

The Hall of Heroes is the final map in the Tombs.

Like IceD'Bear said, the Hall of Heroes is the final map of the Tombs, which is a tournament style map. Basically your team of eight people enters the tomb and you will be fighting with other teams elimination style. If you keep winning, you would end up in the Hall of Heroes to challenge the previous winner. Whichever team wins the HoH map then would get to defend it on the next round. The loser got kicked back to the entrance of the Tombs.

Easier said than done really, since the HoH map is set up so that the defender team is sandwiched between the two other challengers.

So you can only get the Celestial Sigil in PvP, otherwise you have to buy it for... what 1500 gold?
This is extremely helpful so far, keep going.

guild vs guild (GvG):

you meet at your guild hall. you cannot walk to your guild hall, u must bring up your map and then just click on the green dot for guild hall. once there you can create a team of players (8 players) to go into battle with. i would suggest a balanced team. 2 monks are usually good, 3 warrior and then 2 elementalists and 1 mesmer/or necro. this is the usual team im not telling u its better then anything else, just posting about what guild wars says. now once uve assembled your crack team u can either challende another guild or hit random to just get randomized to fight with soemone near your ranking lvl on the ladder. so now uve challenged your opponent, youll be sent into battle. youll either be the attacker - meaning your playing on there field(guild hall layouts) or defend - playing on your field(guild hall layouts)
*note* (this is older info i didnt do any gvg last beta from here down) - now uve entered battle in either your guild hall or theres. you will want to rush to the the flag stand with your flag and plant it. the other team will probv be there waiting for you or on ther way, planting there flag, etc. this is where the main battle takes place (the first showdown), if u win this u get control of flag stand and every 2 minutes you gain a morale boost. the other team could gain back control by fighting u off and replacing the stand with there flag. it would be a good diea once uve gained control of the flag to keep your team positioned there at the flag, guard it until uve gotten high moreale and they hve hgih death penalty. after that u can send a warrior with sprint back to the guild hall to grab the thief and then lead the charge into there guild hall fighting off npc's and them while u go. onve in youll hve to defeat there guild lord, hes actually pretty hard to beat, but one uve defeated him uve one the match - if uve won youll gain some points for the ladder and maybe go up a spot. the amount of points u get i think depends on the how far away the opposing guild is on the ladder. vice versa if u lose, only amount of pooints loss is opposite scenario then the win one.

now uve gotten the info on how to get your guild hall so why should i just repeat what uve already learned from previous posts.

hall of heroes:

to get here youll enter a place called the tombs, its a red dot on your map in the bottom right i think. first youll go in with your team of 8, picked at the location. the first stage is a little area with some udnead, ull have to survive the udnead attack to move onto the next area. now im deinetly not a tombs expert but i think there may be some area to gain some morale before the next fight or somethin. well then once uve survived a bit youll be transported to the next area where youll fight another guild. there are differnt stages and im not to sure on them, anyways the amount of guilds youll have to face before you get to the Hall of Heroes (HoH) is differnt every time. you might find u only hve to defeatone guild and already get there or u may hve to beat more, but if u keep winning eventually youll get there, and once u do youll have to beat the current group who has the HoH and then beat them, after that youll gain control of it and then have to defend it against anyone who trys to get it.

anyways thats about it for now
if u hve any more questions feel free to ask ill see if i can answer them, or im sure some1 else will try. anyways im not exacty sure if anythin has changed, but im pretty sure this is how it is run, i might be off a small amount or somethin, but i think it gives u the gift of it.

On the first map where your team fights the undead, killing Rift Wardens will give you moreale bonuses. Each Rift Warden is worth 2% and the max you can have is 10%. The next map is usually an elimination style where your team is paired with another team. In this map killing the enemy ghostly hero before wiping out the entire enemy team will also give you a max of 10% bonus. I am not sure if killing the enemy ghostly hero on the subsequent maps give you bonuses or not.
